First Senior Officials' Meeting (SOM 1) and Related Meetings kick off today in Nha Trang city

18 February 2017, Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa, Viet Nam – Under the APEC 2017 overarching theme “Creating New Dynamism, Fostering a Shared Future”, a series of the first meetings of APEC 2017 SOM 1 took place.

Over 390 delegates from 21 APEC member economies as well as regional and international organizations participated in 8 APEC meetings today, namely the Human Resources Development Working Group (HRDWG), Emergency Preparedness Working Group (EPWG), Anti-Corruption and Transparency Working Group (ACTWG), Business Mobility Group (BMG), Intellectual Property Rights Experts Group (IPEG), Policy Partnership on Science, Technology and Innovation (PPSTI), Experts Group on Illegal Logging and Associated Trade (EGILAT) and Chemical Dialogue (CD). High-ranking representatives from various ministries and agencies of Viet Nam also took part in these meetings.

At those meetings, APEC delegates reviewed the progress of on-going APEC projects and discussed their work priorities in 2017. They also proposed a range of measures and initiatives to advance those priorities in such areas as training of young scientists; promoting technological transfer; application of technology to reduce disaster risks; facilitating the movement of entrepreneurs in the region; promoting legitimate trade in wood products; enhancing supply chain connectivity towards sustainable growth, etc...

Representa UdeC a México en evento internacional de APEC, en Vietnam

El profesor de la Facultad de Economía, José Ernesto Rangel Delgado, participó en el Workshop on the Development of an APEC Labour Mobility Framework, realizado en Nha Trang, Vietnam.

En días pasados, el profesor investigador de la Facultad de Economía y director del Centro Universitario de Estudios e Investigaciones sobre la Cuenca del Pacífico (CUEICP) de la Universidad de Colima, José Ernesto Rangel Delgado, fue invitado por los gobiernos de Australia y México para participar en el Workshop on the Development of an APEC Labour Mobility Framework (Taller sobre desarrollo en el marco de la movilidad laboral de APEC), realizado en Nha Trang, Vietnam.

En entrevista, Rangel Delgado dijo que esta distinción es un reconocimiento a la Universidad de Colima por su trayectoria en los estudios sobre la cuenca del Pacífico y por presidir actualmente el Consejo del Consorcio Mexicano de Centros de Estudios APEC, que agrupa a siete instituciones educativas especializadas en estudios e investigaciones sobre la Cuenca del Pacífico.
